Description: Up for sale is a 1905 $20 Gold Certificate note One of the most desirable large size gold notes, this comment free note is housed in a PMG Very Fine 20 holder. This note is an evenly circulated and well margined plate letter D example in a comment free PMG holder. Friedberg# 1179 and 1180 are deemed "Technicolor" notes due to the use of red, yellow, and black ink on their faces. These two Gold Certificate Friedberg numbers were current in the latter half of the first decade of the twentieth century, while "technicolor" as a color motion picture process was invented in 1916. "Technicolor" would go on to make steady inroads into the film industry over the next several decades. As United States paper money collecting was also in its infancy at this time, one astute collector from the era was able to make an analogy between these colorful notes and color film and that appropriate moniker has remained in use ever since. This fantastic collector grade note would make an excellent trophy addition to any collection. FREE SHIPPING!!
