Lamar Weldon "Mountain Bummy" Bumbaugh, born on June 27, 1910, and passing away on July 14, 1997, was a beloved and eccentric figure in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. Known for his deep knowledge of Pennsylvania Dutch culture, Bumbaugh was an herbalist and rare bookseller, running an antiquarian store in Kutztown that was a treasure trove of local artifacts and folklore. His expertise in herbal remedies and storytelling made him a cherished local character, blending traditional folk magic practices, known as powwow, with his business.
