Description: 1950s unbranded Vintage Leather Mens Police Jacket 1owner, black patina, thick Geo became a police officer in WI in 1950, and a police chief a few years later. This was his personally purchased leather jacket from those days—made from a thick hide for protection. You can see the holes from his badge above the chest pocket. The jacket is unbranded. Possible made locally from local hide, and in the USA given its era. Unknown if this is steer or horse hide, but it is thick. This jacket was made for protection. The black hide has a patina from age, looking almost brown in some areas. Amazing leather at 70+ years old. It’s unlined, except for the pockets: the two front slash pockets are 7 in deep and lined in engineers ticking stripe. The chest pocket has a working zipper closing, 4 in. across. The cuffs and collar are reinforced in doubled layers of leather. A seam runs across the chest above the chest pocket. The back seam runs up the center and across the shoulders, down the arm to above the elbow. The brass zipper works, but has flaws: the pull is missing and the teeth near the bottom edge are damaged, but will zip. For better closure, you’ll need to add a pull or replace the zipper. (This punk rocker wore it open in the 80s). Measurements with jacket laying flat: 20” across front chest, armpit to armpit 19” across front waist 24” length shoulder to bottom edge 18" across back from top shoulder seam to seam 17" across back yoke 23" across back pits to pit 25” sleeve shoulder to cuff, and 18” armpit to cuff 21” zipper Geo was about 6" tall and lean back in the day, with broad shoulders.
