Description: Very rare Official Inaugural VIP Gift medal from President Richard for his 1st Inaugural in 1969. Medal was struck by Medallic Art Co. from special dies in bronze measuring 1 1/2" in diameter and is enclosed in lucite as a desktop display measuring 2" x 2" x 2" in size. These special VIP Inaugural medal small strikings were requested by President Nixon himself to give to high rankling VIPs and his Cabinet following the election of 1968. They rarely show up or offered for sale on ebay or any forum or auction house. This small version of the 1969 Inaugural medal should not to be confused with the very common large 2 3/4" bronze Official Inaugural medal of same design struck in the thousands. This 1969 Official Inaugural Medal variant is generally missing from most Official Inaugural medal collections.
