The subject matter of Etruscan painting is scenes from the earthly life of the deceased. These are ritual scenes with musicians, dancers, gymnasts, images of hunting and fishing, mythological scenes (from Greek vase painting or made by artists from Greece). The painting technique is that paints were diluted in water and then applied in a thin layer to the plaster. The artists sought to overcome the darkness of the tomb so that the deceased could "see" the images.
