1979 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

Description: For sale in as-is condition, our 1979 VW Type 2 Transporter Bus or Kombi. This has the 2.0L, 4-cylinder original motor which was rebuilt last year by local VW shop. The rebuilt motor has about 2,013 miles (post rebuild reading 75,810 miles on odometer that had likely exceeded mechanical limits, and reading is now approx. 77,823 miles). Bus is driven a few times a week for groceries or joy riding. Additional improvements were made within the past year. The fuel injector was replaced with a carburetor. There is an air conditioner, but we have not run it as power is lost with the carburetor. Bus has 5 special order commercial van tires, Hankook Vantra LT 195R14 for the original 14" wheels. The windshield and seal, passenger and driver’s window seals, shocks, CV joints, and bearings are also new. Eddie Bauer flannel curtains made this year. There is seating for 7 with seats in good condition. We have made no cosmetic changes. There are some indications of rust as shown in the photos. While bus is being sold in as-is condition, the only issue we have had is the battery needs jumping if the bus isn't driven every few days. Alternately, it can be trickle charged. The previous owner silicone sealed the sunroof. We did not get around to ordering new seal for the sunroof, so it remains closed. The Texas registration and inspection are current with title from New Mexico in hand. Overall, the bus is in a good position to be enjoyed and priced for someone to carry on with keeping it on the road. We have taken it to some VW shows. Anyone who's had this experience knows how much fun and attention these vehicles get. Don't be surprised by all the honking, thumbs up, and photo requests.
