Description: These cuties were called "Dress Me" dolls. "Marcie" Dolls were all the rage, and were dressed in all different ways. These dolls were sold in craft stores, so you could dress them however you wished. They were probably made in Hong Kong or Taiwan. One is in it's original unopened package, and one isn't. They stand about 7.5 inches tall. They have reddish brown hair. I don't know. Call it auburn? brown? They are made from a thick celluloid that was invented by Irwin. Manufacturers in the US that used celluloid were required by law to use the thicker celluloid because it wasn't near as flammable as the thin celluloid from the 1920s. Thick celluloid predates the ones from hard plastic, which became really popular for the dolls as well. These two have removeable white shoes. These dolls are readily available, but often have issues - the bodies will fade and not match the arms and legs, the hair gets messed up (Mohair is pretty fragile), and the head arms and legs will come detached. NOT THESE TWO! My Mom would buy these type dolls every year at Christmas and make them really remarkable clothing, then donate the dolls. She dressed them in clothes that were completely adorable.
