Grown in the beautiful state of Colorado, sourced from farmers practicing good standard farming practices. Our grain is a premium choice when it comes to mushroom cultivation. Millet is a very small grain that offers numerous innoculant points, thus colonizing at very fast speeds. When tested back to back with other grains, we have found millet to outperform other grains as far as colonization time. Easy to use and little mess, our white millet is fairly clean and doesn't require a bunch of pre-washing to get rid of dust and unwanted particulates. Saves time and avoids unnecessary steps. You don't need to presoak millet to achieve optimal moisture content. To prepare millet for mushroom cultivation, we suggest bringing millet to a boil and reducing down the temperature to a simmer. Allow millet to simmer for 10-15 minutes. Use a paint strainer, cheese cloth, brewing bag, or metal screen to strain the grains. Once grains have been strained properly to avoid excessive moisture, they can be loaded into unicorn mushroom bags or similar, and auto claved or pressure cooked. You may also choose to completely avoid any preboil or prep and directly put the grains into a mycology grow bag or mason jars, add water and pressure cook, or autoclave. For no prep method if using mason jars to make smaller grain spawn at a time, the recipe can be used below. 265 grams of millet grain (350ml on mason jar) 150 ml of water Pressure cook at 15 psi for 90 minutes. Please note you can scale up the recipe if you want to make larger amounts of grain spawn at a time, but remember cook times will increase if you make 5-6lb grain spawn bags in which you should cook the grains for 2.5-3 hours.
