Description: Vintage JC Penney brand 45-300 Power Equatorial Reflector Telescope (35.25-inch body), Lot No. 626-1008, Cat. No. 918-1454. Magnification 45x150x(90x300x) with 4.5” diameter mirror, 900 mm reflecting mirror, wooden tripod, equatorial mount, 2 flexible controls, 2 eye lenses (H6m & H20 mm), 2x Barlow lens, accessory tray (supports tripod), 5x/24mm finder scope, balance weight. Assembled height with tripod legs at shortest (29.5 inches) approximately 40 inches tall, or up to 20 inches taller with tripod legs fully extended. Two-tone blue metal telescope barrel approximately 34 inches long and 5.5 inches diameter. Blue scope approximately 5.5 inches long and 1 inch diameter. Plaque on barrel printed “JCPenney Equatorial Reflector Telescope, D=4-1/2, F=900 mm, Lot No. 626-1008, Made in Japan.” Caution: This is NOT a children’s toy. Read instruction manual (included) before use, as misuse can result in injury such as burned eye. Condition: Owned and hardly used by 1 adult in 1970s. Stored in original box for 50 years until assembled to take attached photos. Removed from original box which was heavy and worn, and repackaged in larger box with original 2-sided styrofoam tray to include cushioning. Seems to be complete except for possible substitution of 1 flat bolt/nut for wing nut to attach scope to telescope. Not tested as I don’t know anything about telescopes. Scratches in blue paint. Some rust on metal hardware. Spots on internal mirror may need cleaning. Sold as is, no guarantee, warranty, returns or refunds. Beautiful decorative piece, or useful for parts, if not functional.
