Description: Amazing contemporary (2000-2020), Modernist large original oil pastel painting from African American street artist Dan Ball out of Atlanta, Georgia. Depicte a thought provoking culturally relevant portrait of a Black American doctor in scrubs. He has a stoic, yet inviting, look in his eyes as he clutches the foot of a small black boy asleep on his shoulders. The boy is clutching the doctors head in a way that shows a sense of both security and gratitude; perhaps the doctor has just saved one of this young child’s parents, or, is the parent of he boy himself, and, either way, is offering a moment of much needed parental comfort to the boy. One can note the pair of Air Jordan’s on the child’s feet and he white mask hanging down around the neck of the doctor. Very well done with bold and exact lines. Vigorous, yet controlled and smooth flowing. Great capture of light, shadow and emotion. Medium is oil pastels on textured paper done in a Modernist/Expressionist style. Signed by the artist in the bottom right corner. Provenance comes from our recent picking trip through Georgia and was purchased in an Atlanta metro area gallery.
