This AMAZING Antique Canopy Bedframe is simply breathtaking. Even more so in person. The Bed Posts themselves are incredibly carved with dramatic Swags and Foliate flourishes at the tops of the four posts as well as at two other points on each post. The feet of the bed are nicely turned and terminate at the floor with thick brass ferrules or colars. The construction of this bedframe is definitely old school. The Footboard and Side Rails are 2 3/4" Inches wide by 4" Inches tall of THICK solid Mahogany ! The construction of the bedframe is old school & heavy duty and it comes with most of the original steel screw bolts to "bolt-up" the frames for use. The Headboard has a very attractive Split Arched Pediment with its original ornate center finial. The Bedframe itself measures 85 1/2" Inches long or deep by 90" Inches tall by 61 1/2" Inches wide . Footboard height is 18 1/2" Inches. Skirt height is 14 1/2" Inches. Headboard height is 59 1/2" Inches tall. The Canopy itself is two pieces ! There is an exterior frame with the requisite holes to reciprocate the dowels on the top of each post. And, there is an interior frame that rests on a lip on the exterior canopy frame. Of course, this would have been instrumental to help secure the bed hangings from the canopy.
