Description: Up for sale is this rare antique 1833 copy of Smith's, "Natural History of the Fishes of Massachusetts, Embracing a Practical Essay on Angling." The book is overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age. It is generally considered to be the first American book on angling. The covers have some moderate wear with a few light splits to the cloth along the length of the spine. The book has been rebacked at some point in the past, though it retains it's original spine covering & label. There is an old bookplate and name inscription to the front endpapers. The interior is lightly toned from age with foxing through out and some occasional light soiling or grubbiness. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection, such as a creased page corner, minor chip or tear, etc. Generally though, it's a good copy. The book measures approximately 7 3/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches and is 399 pages long. It is illustrated with a few in-text wood cuts. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
