While a finger or a simple ‘Czech Tool’ serves as an adequate pipe tamper, having fine things that surround our pipe routines make that treasured time even more special. As a humble pipe restorer, I also make pipe tampers that combine my passion for pipes and jeweler’s skills to make tampers that are visually and tactically attractive. I usually salvage certain vintage wares and materials to hand craft my custom tampers. Each is quite unique. While my hours of filing, sanding and polishing on each piece will never be reimbursed, the vintage materials I collect come at some expense. My goal is to make finer tampers for those that appreciate finer pipes and accessories. Previously, I only made these tampers for friends and commissioned clients, though I have been encouraged to offer some of my work along with my pipe restorations.
