Description: Beautiful late 1800s or Early 1900s Japanese Fine Wood Chest with Coin Slots There is Japanese writing in pencil on the back of the bottom drawer, which appears to be for storage of something, possibly game pieces or coins. The top drawers appear to be for collecting those pieces or coins that were dropped in the slots, because there are little marks in the centers of all the top drawers that line-up with the slots. The quality of the wood and woodworking is very nice with dovetails and wood pins. The off-white inlaid parts look like bone or celluloid and were possibly for writing on. There are some age-related cracks in the wood and minor wear to the surfaces, but overall the condition is very good. Measures 11-3/4" long x 5-1/4" wide x 3-1/2" tall, outside. Please ask any questions if something is not clear. Thanks for looking!
