Description: This large finely woven Native Alaskan basket features interlocked geometric chevrons colored in dark brown and faded red. An interesting feature of the basket is a central disc of leather in the center of the outside bottom. The old label that came with the basket describes it as bundle coiled beach grass. It is 10" in diameter x 5 1/4" tall. Some 20% of the red dyed or painted overcasting on the top coil is missing (see photo) otherwise the basket is in good solid condition. I think it dates to the 1930's. Stock Number SA2D-127
