Description: An unusually thick and heavy short sasaho yari spear. Circa 1650. Overall 24.5". Weight 1.21 lbs. It was out of polish and someone in Japan (that's where it was until recently) started the process but stopped short. The ura side of the blade shows some pitting and I am sure it will disappear after a finish polish. It just needs a final polish. Blade only. It is ubu and the nakago is oversized thick and wide. 2 Mekugiana. The first picture shows it in comparison to a 24" tachi. It is heavier than the tachi and the nakago is over twice as thick as the tachi blade. Tachi weight = 365g / yari weight = 548.8g .
