Description: Estate Sale - Great Provenance - Here is the story I received from the Proprietor of the Sale Company -- The husband served in Germany post war - 1946 - His wife saved the cigarette ration coupons and applied the coupons towards the purchase of Meissen China --Dishes were crated and shipped to USA-- The dishes were never removed from the crate - Upon passing of the parents - dishes were passed on to the daughter - she never used the dishes and the dishes remained in the crate -- until this sale Crafted in Germany, Meissen one of the finest porcelain manufacturers in the world since the 18th Century.The blue onion pattern was inspired by the blue and white Porcelain from China's Yuan Dynasty. Original Meissen marked with blue crossed swords on the bottom with number impression Sale if for Gravy Boat with Attached Underplate - approx measurements 9"L 6.5"H at handle 5.5"D Heavy Duty -- Appears New however there is slight chip on the underside of spout - actually hard to feel - see last two pictures - Stunningly Beautiful!Surprised these dishes never used- were they too good to use? Still condition is excellent considering the age and looks new - chipped in shipping? Will be packed well to prevent any damage and insured
