Description: Up for bid is a unique piece of history - a White Star Line Elkington silverplate fruit bowl stamped with an N and a Star flag dated c.1899 from Birmingham, England. The fruit bowl has the following stamps: 1A, 12975, E & Co. Shield, E, &, Co., an N inside a curved box, and Elkington & Co. Used 1st Class, possibly on RMS Medic, RMS Persic, or RMS Oceanic which were all built in 1899. Silver plated brass outside decorated with grapevine trim. Inside bottom has embossed assorted fruits with some gold wash still showing. Good used condition showing signs of wear - pit marks, scratches, and dents; see photos. Gold wash barely visible.
