No copyright or print date, but lists to his previous book, thus probably a first edition. (Actually first published in 1957.) 216 pages. Deep red composition boards are lettered in black on spine. Covers are clean and unworn. Hinges are intact and binding is very tight. There is a modest 1962 gift inscription on ffep, otherwise interior is immaculate. There are 6 double-sided plates in b&w. The unclipped dustjacket is clean and whole, with no chips or tears. It is in new mylar.Arch Merrill (1894-1974) was a newspaper man who at one time or another covered every aspect of the newsroom. He found his niche when he began writing articles for Rochester's paper, the Sunday Democrat and Chronicle, on the history of central and mostly western New York. These weren't dry history recitations. He delved into the little known pasts of towns and people of the area. Some of these more than 1600 articles have been collected into his series of books.
