Description: I purchased this pin from an estate sale so I can't give you its provenance, but it looks like the original owner made some alterations to the back of this pin. What I think happened is someone added the screw type fastener onto the back and it was originally a lever back pin. (You can see what I think is a remnant from the leverback in my photos). In my research into this pin, the US government used this same design form WWI to WWII, so I wonder if this pin was worn in both wars by more than one generation of a family. When the leverback failed, they added the screw-type fastener. This pin is a real piece of US history. If you purchase more than one item from me at a time, I'll give you a mystery refund discount.
