This motor is a drop in replacement or upgrade for the factory Bachmann motor in the G scale 4-6-0 and 2-8-0 locomotives. No modifications to the motor mount in the locomotive are necessary. This motor will bolt in place of the original motor, This motor is the same size as the Bachmann factory motor. The only part needed for this conversion is the worm gear from the original motor. A worm gear IS NOT SUPPLIED with the new motor. This motor may work in other Bachmann locomotives, Bachmann uses this size of motor in several of their G scale locomotives. Check the size of your motor to see if it matches the dimensions listed below before buying this motor.. This motor WILL NOT fit in the Bachmann G scale Shay, Climax, or Heisler. This is a very high torque heavy duty single shaft round can motor, it is designed for cordless drill service. The motor has a 5 pole armature, carbon brushes and brass bearings. The motor is 38mm long and 28mm in diameter, the motor shaft is 13mm long and 2.3mm in diameter. There are 2 mounting holes on the front of the motor that are tapped for 2.6mm screws, there are 2 solder terminals on the rear for electrical connections. Both motor terminals are isolated from the case of the motor. At 12 volts DC with no load, this motor draws 170ma and develops 9300 rpm, the stall current is 2.7 amps. This motor draws less current than the factory Bachmann motor. If you are running your locomotive on batteries, you may get a longer run time with this motor. This motor is DCC compatible with a high current decoder. This motor will be shipped via USPS Ground Advantage Mail.
