Five had Ingersoll Rand engines, five had Cooper-Bessemer; the engines were actually interchangeable. Otherwise both versions were identical early all-welded designs. The 5 Cooper units were sold to BAR in 1951. The newly designed double- reduction gearing limited loco speed to 25 mph but gave the loco greater pulling power with engines half the size of other similar locos. Andy did justice to the early off- center cab design, depicting it nicely in the early BAR paint design. There were no clear color photographs available to show the details of the paint so it was quite a job of detective work to get as close as possible to the actual original paint scheme.
