Canadian Mountie Thomas O'Rourke (Ladd) and his men must lead the sole survivor of a Sioux massacre, Shelley Winters, to safety across the border in Montana. Red Sundown: Strong acting and direction overcomes the more cliched aspects of Red Sundown. It all begins when gunslinger Alec Longmire (Rory Calhoun), weary of living up to his reputation, decides to hang up his firearms and start life anew as a cowpuncher. Before long, however, Alec is obliged to strap on his shooting irons as the deputy of sheriff Jade Murphy (Dean Jagger). It's for a good cause, of course: Murphy hopes to avoid a violent range war with a nonviolent show of force. The thief is Anjanette Comer, acting on behalf of her nasty boyfriend, Mexican bandit chieftan John Saxon. In his efforts to retrieve his property, Brando is subjected to torture and humiliation by Saxon and his minions. A later foray into Saxon's camp results in a brutal wrestling match between Brando and the bandito. Again left to die, Brando is rescued by Comer, who despises her "lover" and prefers Brando's company. During the violence-laden climax, Brando his forced to choose between Comer and his beloved Appaloosa." Please note that I cannot guarantee the playability of all bonus features on all equipment since extras can be in standard definition and in PAL format (e.g. PAL/SD/50HZ content cannot be accessed by all Region A equipment and/or cannot be displayed on all American TV sets).
