c. 1910 Antique Glass Photo Paperweight Frederic H. Burnham Advertising Leather

Description: This is a glass paperweight over a real photo of Frederic H. Burnham Company. This company manufactured leather gloves, mittens and helmets in Michigan City, Indiana. Frederic H. Burnham Glove Company was founded in Chicago in 1891, subsequently moving to Michigan City. In 1902, they built a 30,000 square foot plant at 1602 Tennessee Street. Manufacturing stopped in 1980. Underside of paperweight reads: "Frederic H. Burnham Company ~ Established 1902 ~ Michigan City, Indiana ~ Manufacturers Leather Gloves, Mittens, and Helmets ~ Fifty two miles from Chicago on Lake Michigan, hourly trains from Chicago on South Shore Line reach Michigan City in one hour and twenty five minutes. Through trains on Michigan Central to New York and Boston. ~ You are invited to pay us a visit". This would make a great project if you wished to replace the backing with your preferred image. Looks like business card was inserted with metal backing, then caulked around the edges. Condition: Excellent condition. Most notable issue is paper backing graphics are slightly darkened. No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's. No sickness, discoloration, or residues. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges.
