Description: China, SIlk Industry, 1850s Antique Engraving You are bidding on an original antique engraving from an 1850s newspaper. It shows a detailed view of the silk culture industry in China. It appears to be a family affair, with grandparents, parents and children working. Raw silk is being spun (and possibly dyed) on a hand crank spinner. Amazing look at both the silk culture industry and family life in chine over 150 years ago.PLEASE NOTE the page has two small fox marks in the caption area, but they do not effect the picture area. The page measures approximately 10.75 x 7.25 inches. There is unrelated text on the back of these pages, but it does not show through the rich paper. Back then, the paper was high quality and the print and illustrations are crisp. Based on the date, it is probably the rotogravure printing technique. The page is in excellent condition for its age. See scan for closeup view of condition. This print will come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
