Isiah Thomas' 'Bad Boy' Pistons disrupted the cycle, winning back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990. Prior to the 1986–87 season, the Pistons acquired more key players: John Salley (drafted 11th overall), Dennis Rodman (drafted 27th) and Adrian Dantley (acquired in a trade with the Utah Jazz).
