Description: Offered for your consideration is a clear glass low standard compote or footed bowl made by the Aetna Glass and Manufacturing Company (1880-1890). Although the original manufacturer's name for this pattern is unknown, the pattern is often called by its descriptive name "Wheel and Comma", and dates to the early 1880s. The compote features an engraved fern leaf, stem, and floral design on both sides. The compote measures 5.5 inches (14 cm) in diameter and stands 3.25 inches (8.3 cm) tall to rim. This compote is in excellent used condition with no cracks, noticeable scratches, nor repairs. There is roughness and minor chipping to ends of commas. See photos. The glass is bright and clear with no cloudiness, discoloration, nor lime scale present. There are small bubbles within the glass and a deep shear (straw) mark in bottom of bowl which is shown in last photo. There may be additional minor imperfections within the glass due to the manufacturing process used at the time. The compote will be shipped from a smoke-free home and will be packed securely for shipping. Good luck and thank you for your interest.
