Description: Historical dates "Napoleon" Note--Fancy Serial Number. This 2017A Series $10 note has a serial number of PB 17961799 A. The first campaign that General Napoleon Bonaparte led into battle occurred in 1796 in the "Italian Campaign" launching his rise to fame and power. In 1799 Napoleon became "First Consul" after the Nov 9, 1799 "Coup of 18 Brumaire", a bloodless coup d'etat, which marked the end of the French Revolution. His power was confirmed by the new constitution of 1799 which established his dictatorship. What a cool note! I've seen birth year death year notes before but this one blows my mind! The year Napoleon led his first army into battle followed by the year he became "First Consul" and ended the French Revolution. Wow! Bill isn't in the best shape as you can see in the photos, but still looks great in a holder, and what a conversation note. I also researched to see if Alexander Hamilton had any significant accomplishments in those years and found nothing super cool. He was active in politics in those years, having completed his term as Treasury Secretary in 1795.
