Description: These are my HAMMER EYE Punch Top Tools These hammer eye punches are forged from new 4140 tool steel and are made in a robust profile for strength and durability. These punches, when used properly, can punch the eye in a wide range of hammers from about 1.5-pound all the way to 12 pound sledge size. Care should be taken to keep the punch end lubricated and cool(ish) while punching your hole. (I use a product called Fuchs from anvilfire, and highly recommend it.) This tool can also be used to punch holes in any stock over 3/8-inch thick for traditional joinery work and pass-throughs. This tool has a single taper eye with a friction fit handle. This style of handle fit helps prevent direct vibration transference from the tool to the handle, which helps the handle hold up longer and makes it more comfortable to use. The handle is American Hickory wood, finished to 120 grit, and lightly coated in linseed oil.
