If memory serves this was a ten volume series. Which spun off two animes, the original Anime Hellsing which only covered to a certain volume, and later Hellsing Ultimate, which stays true to the source material. The original run of the Hellsing anime went a different direction as Kohta Hirano had not finished the series, so the original Anime company decided to make up their own version to finish off the series.
