Description: BOISE: YOU'LL LIKE BOISE Author: [Idaho] Title: BOISE: YOU'LL LIKE BOISE Publication: Boise, Idaho: Boise Commercial Club, 1909 Description: Pamphlet. This scarce promotional brochure suggests Boise is the next big thing. In particular, Boise promises to repeat the growth history witnessed a decade earlier in Seattle and Spokane: "The real estate of those cities has responded to the great western immigration and has advanced values which were undreamed of during the nineties. Boise is now repeating their history."Located in Southern Idaho, about halfway between Portland and Salt Lake City, the city is far enough away from both to have its own distinct wholesale territory. Expansion of railways to the city promised to fuel even more growth. Along with fruit growing and sheep farming, Boise was becoming a growing manufacturing center. In 1909, its factories turned out 900,000 cigars, 100,000 shirt waists, 6,380 brooms, 316,000 mattresses, pillows, and comforters, andmuch more.Pamphlet, 24 p. with photographic illustrations and a center spread illustration of the Idaho State Capitol, set for completion in 1912. Original pictorial white paper wrappers (4" x 9"), bound with two staples. A very good or better example.Scarce, no copies in the marketplace, with two in OCLC: Princeton and the Wisconsin Historical Society Library. Very good.
