Description: Iowa 1909 Cabinet Card little boy in knee pants ID Ralf Arno Peet by Shaffer Lovely shot of the little boy, well-composed. I love his contemplative look (and his bow tie!) Light soiling to card. Card measures about 7.5 x 5 inches, and image is about 4 x 2.75 inches. On lower right is a signature, in what looks like pencil: "Shaffer" On reverse is written, in pencil:"Arno Peet" I have other photos of the same children, including one from 1910 that looks like Arno is about a year younger, and have found that this is Ralf Arno Peet (1901-1968), son of Floyd Augustus Peet and Ida Jane Breyfogel Peet. Arno was born in Iowa and died and was buried in California. Arno's parents, Floyd and Ida, were pioneers in the Crescenta Valley, CA. Floyd Peet operated a print shop in early Montrose. Arno's sister Anita Peet Geyer continued the family business in its later years as Peet’s Stationery. When Anita died in the ’90s, she bequeathed a sizable inheritance to Montrose, the town she loved deeply, splitting the sum between the Montrose Chamber of Commerce and the Montrose Shopping Park Association. The Chamber has used its money for scholarships, while the Shopping Park reserved the money for civic improvements. My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process. I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please check out my other listings. I will ship as soon as I receive payment.
