Lane's Cove, Gloucester, MA Vintage Oil Painting

Description: this is a vintage impressionistic / realistic oil painting depicting a small section of Lane's Cove in Gloucester, MA - the painting appears to show a small fisherman's cottage on the upper left of the picture with a larger fish & lobster shack to the right of the cottage - in front of the cottage is a rowboat turned upside down on a rock ledge that slopes down into the cove water - the front of the fish shack is propped up on rocks & cement pilings right by the cove's water line - this allows the fisherman the ability to bring his fish catch right up to the entrance of the fish shack where there is a wide door - the artist used wonderful shades of muted gray & brown colors to illustrate the weather-beaten exterior of the cottage as well as the fish shack contrasted against the pale blue colors of the sky & deep blue color of the water of the cove - on the left & center of the painting, one sees the sloping rock ledge which reaches down into the blue cove water & which the artist painted in shades of beige & brown which blends nicely with the muted grays & browns of the cottage & the fish shack - to the right of the picture, one sees some off-white cottages up on a hill surrounded by summer green tree foliage - the painting measures 12" x 16 sight size & is in very good vintage condition - it is well-enhanced by its original muted gray / off-white wooden frame that measures 14" x 18" & is also in very good condition - on the reverse of the painting, the artist wrote "Lane's Cove, Cape Ann, Mass." & "Acton R.Davies (name)"
