Small quarto, embossed black cloth stamped in gilt; Portrait frontispiece of Hoffecker. Hoffecker (1827-1900) was from Smyrna, Delaware and studied civil engineering. He became a Republican and was president of the Smyrna town council from 1876 to 1898. He unsuccessfully ran for governor but was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1898. During a visit home he suffered a stroke and died on June 16, 1900. This book contains the memorial addresses given in Congress upon his death. Condition: Exterior - Fair. Still solid binding with all pages intact and no tears. Exterior has minor rubbing to corners and rubbing/spots on front and back (see pictures). No interior pages have any writing that I have seen, but some smudges on page edges. Exterior and interior pages appear to be linen-like. Very rare book!
