Description: NIB STAFFORDSHIRE ENAMEL BOX - NOAH'S ARK - ANIMALS 2 BY 2 - BIBLE w/Booklet. This is a Large, exquisite Hand Painted, Staffordshire Enamels Box with Staffordshire Booklet included. Enamel over copper with Hinged Gold Plated Brass mount. Beautifully hand painted all over the outside (except the bottom) with pairs of animals & Noah’s Ark. The top shows Noah’s Ark with Noah at the helm & two giraffes looking out the windows with two fish in the sea. This scene is surrounded by pairs of animals with 2 doves on the top & 2 penguins on the bottom. The base shows the pairs of animals lined up to board Noah’s Ark. 24 pairs of different species from spiders to bees and chipmunks to elephants are shown. The interior top features painting of a dove carrying an olive branch & the Bible verse Genesis chapter vii verse 9 “There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as G-d had commanded Noah’. The artwork is truly exceptional; Very detailed. Artist is Mary Dennis (initialed on bottom). Packed in the rich, red distinctive Staffordshire Box it came in since purchased in the 1990s with booklet. Includes rare Staffordshire booklet that tells the history & present story of Staffordshire Enamels with artist’s names & initials they inscribe on the bottom. Bottom states “Kinsley Enamels Worcestershire England Hand Painted.” With large S in the middle and the artist’s initials, MD. New in box. Pictures do not do this Staffordshire Enamel justice. Approximately 2.25” Diameter x 1.25” H No cracks, breaks, scratches, or crazing seen. No repairs. Please excuse any glare or shadows in the photos, they are not defects.
