Description: Originally designed by the Pioneer Parachute Company as their Model P3-B, the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) adopted the design as their B-8 parachute, standardized in October 1942. The new pack contained special bow stiffeners, which increased flexibility and molded around the wearer's back. These parachutes were used in various theaters of operation throughout World War II and well into the postwar era. Both bomber pilots and fighter pilots utilized this type of parachute. This example appears to be dated "April 1956," and was manufactured by the Pioneer Parachute Company as the Model P3-B-24 Parachute.
