Like everything marked "natural" should be healthy, right? No! The federal trade commission has finally put a stop to the deceptive marketing with sheets and thread count. Anything over 800 does not matter. The most important factors when looking for good sheets is to look at the fiber used, like Egyptian Cotton which is one of the best fibers because of the long weave hence less pilling. The other finer weaves are pima and supima. Next the weave, like percale or sateen is a deciding factor. The more common weave is percale which is cool and crisp vs the sateen weave that is a little softer and warmer than percale. This is personal preference. Finally, where the sheets are made are also important. France and Italy are known to make the finest linens of the world, like for the royal families. Portugal makes fine linens as well.
