Description: Here is an Exceptional Original, Antique 1830’s-Era, American “Pontil-Era” Writing-Ink Bottle-Related “Stampless-Folded-Letter” which is from “Maynard + Noyes ~ Boston Massachusetts”. Maynard + Noyes Is a Company that I have Seen, Over the Many Years, On Early "Paper-Ink-Bottle-Labels" that were Attached to the Original Early-19th. Century "Ink / Utility-Bottles" that were still Adorned with their Elegant Early Labels, Even after Over a 150 + Years of Being Stored inside of Early New England "Estates" or Very Early Druggist or Mercantile Stores. Most of the "Olive-Amber" or Reddish-Amber Colored, Cylindrical Shaped "Utility-Ink-Bottles" were Actually Produced at the Famous Sites of the Stoddard Glass Factory, which was in Operation from the 1840's Until around 1865, when Bottle Production there Stopped and a New Glass Factory was Opened at "Lyndeborough New Hampshire" The Very Early "Labeled" Bottles that were Produced at Stoddard and Other Known New England Bottle-Glass Companies, are always in High Demand at all of the Antique Bottle Shows across the United States. The Classic Early "Parchment-Style" Paper of the "Pre-Postal-Stamp-America" ( Prior to about 1850) was Strong and Durable. The Early "Letters" were “Hand-Quill-Pen-Written” Using the Early Carmine “Indelible-Inks” that were Produced at Most American “Apothecary/ Drug-Stores” and Sold in Small Square, Conical, or Cylindrical-Shaped “Mold-Blown” Glass-Bottles. The “Letter-Contents” were Scrawled on One-Side of the Paper, normally, which was Then "Folded" ~ and the "Address" was Entered on the Front-Side of the Paper Rendering a “Stampless-Folded-Letter” - Until the Innovation of the Classic “Envelope” Emerged, at about the Introduction of the New Colorful Printed “U.S. Postal-Stamp” that Featured Litho Graphics of American Presidents and Patriotic Themes. The Letter On the Front-Address Side is Stamp-Post-Marked “Boston Mass - August 5” The Address is Hand-Ink-Scrawled Reading: “(MESSENGER) SETH LOW + CO - NEW YORK” The Written Leader Reads: “Boston - Aug. 5th. ‘49 Seth Low + Company Please Inform Us of Your Price For True Gum - Sincerely and Obliged - (Respectfully) Yours, Maynard + Noyes P.S. Please Quote anything Else You May Have to Offer. CONDITION: The Early Stampless-Folded-Letter - Document is in Nice, Original “Antique Estate-Acquired” Condition + There are NO FORMS OF “DAMAGE”, NO CREASES, NO SIGNIFICANT TEARS, NO MARKINGS, NO WATER OR MOISTURE-CONTACT-ISSUES”, NO STRIKES OR IMPACT-ISSUES”. There is Some Very Minimal Natural Age-Related “Toning”, Wear and Indications of Usage + Handling ~ Over all Very Clean + Very Nice ~ !!!! ****The Amazing Antique Paper-Document is Presently Stored, and is "Shipped-to-You", Within a Rigid-Plastic Holder, for the Utmost Protection During the Shipping-Process.
