Description: Pretty Ugly Mug Coffee Tea Mug Handmade Pottery. Though the makers mark is difficult to decipher, I'm fairly certain that this is one of the Pretty Ugly Mugs made in Whales between 1997-1999. They were known for the very expressive clay faces sculped to the outside of the mug, though on occasion they would do pieces with surprises on the inside, as is the case with this one. I believe they also opened their studio to the public for tours and to participate in making their own pottery pieces, so it's possible this is one of these. As you can see in the photos, this mug contains a small critter inside the bottom of the mug that is part of the pottery itself and glazed with the rest of the mug. The critter has lavender eyes. The exterior of the mug is glazed with dark olive green towards the top and a beige towards the bottom and on the interior. Almost 3 1/2" tall, and about 4" wide at the handleComes from a smoke-free, pet-friendly home. I use recycled packing material whenever possible and will pack well! Thanks for looking!
