Description: Here is a set of 42 large diamond shapes for constructing quilt blocks in the Star Of The East pattern, #3705, as shown in the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns compiled by Barbara Brackman. Pattern is categorized as a Six-Pointed Star. This design is from the Wallace's Farmer magazine dated March 23, 1928. Each diamond piece measures approximately 15" high x 9 1/2" wide and is a combination of machine and hand stitching. Sizes do vary, although each block contains nine diamond shapes. Fabrics include indigo blues, shirting and wovens from the late 1800s to perhaps fabrics from the 1950s. Materials are mainly cottons, although there are some blends. When six points are pieced together, the resulting star would be approximately 28" (+ or -) from point to point. All of the diamond shapes are pictured.
