Founded in 1775, John Aynsley & Sons China is one of the most influential companies in the British tableware industry. Many of the individual pieces are hand marked in red under the glaze as '1605' or 'B 1605'. Accordingly, this has been designated as pattern 'B1605' by Replacements, Ltd., a leading source for information and antique dinnerwares. Pattern Description: Rust Flowers and Hearts with a rich Cobalt Edge surrounding a White Center. Gold metallic detailing is used extensively on the scalloped edge and on the rim in the design. These were made in England. This pattern is discontinued and was active during unknown exact dates. However, the Printed Green Maker's Mark with 'Est. 1775' was commonly used by Aynsley from circa 1939 until 1960. Condition: Excellent overall condition for their age. There are no chips, cracks or crazing except as noted by specific piece. Most pieces show light shelf wear and utensil marks. The gold trim on the edges shows moderate-to-no wear, depending on the individual piece. The dinner plates are affected by this gold edge wear more than other pieces. There is a chip on the underside of the rim of this bowl. The chip measures 5/8" x 1/4". See photos * 2 - Footed Cups, 2-1/8" Height x 3-3/4" Width x 4-5/8" Length (at Handle) * 1 - Footed Cup - Chipped, 2-1/8" Height x 3-3/4" Width x 4-5/8" Length (at Handle). This cup has a shallow 3/8" chip on the inside of the rim opposite the handle. See photos. * 4 - Saucer Plates for Footed Cups, 5-3/4" Width * 1 - Saucer Plate for Footed Cup - Cracked, 5-3/4" Width. This plate has a long hairline crack starting at the rim and running through the center of the saucer. It cannot be felt to the touch. See photos. * 1 - Gravy Boat with Attached Underplate, 4" Height x 8" Length (at Spout & Handle) x 3-1/2" Width. The foot to the gravy boat has been cracked and repaired at both ends of the oval.
