Vintage 1930's Kawamoto Kotei Ceramic HistoryKawamoto Kotei, 1894-1975,was born in Aichi Prefecture.He received the highest award at the Aichi Ceramics Show in 1914. In the same year, he won the gold medal at the Peace Expo.Since then, he has won numerous awards at world expositions such as Paris, San Francisco, and Chicago.In 1933, he built a kiln in the Seto Boys' Hospital and became a professor at the House of Corrections.In the same year, at the request of the Japanese government, he produced a large ornamental jar to be presented to President Truman.In the same year, he received a Cultural Merit Award from the Governor of Aichi Prefecture.In 1934, he was appointed by the Imperial Household Agency's Daizen profession to produce a double crane crest cup for the celebration of the wedding of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince. For this, he received the Purple Coat of Arms.Kotei was certified as an intangible culture holder in Aichi Prefecture for "dyed porcelain".Vibrant color and detail. Excellent condition.
