Description: This is a rare gilt silver members medal for the British (London) Pitt club. This badge was required to attend meetings of this exclusive members only club. This one issued to William Arnold Esq. as indicated on the reverse. Looped for wearing. A rare members gold plated silver badge. Excellent condition, with a repaired crack across the glass image of Pitt. The crack would be easy to fix (hide) with a bit of white, but I will not do it. I see another for more than $1000. The original club was formed in London in 1793 and reformed in 1808 when this badge was most likely issued. The Latin legend translates to "HE LIVED NOT FOR HIMSELF BUT FOR HIS COUNTRY". See the scans. U.S. insured shipping is $6. It will cost me more. PayPal or your check. A check gets a 3% discount as that is what the card company charges me. This was once part of my anti-slavery collection as Pitt was a proponent of ending that horrible business and lectured often against it. All Pitt club member badges are rare. I am always open to offers on any of my listings. Just ask. Worst thing is I say no. I COMBINE SHIPPING USUALY ADDING NOTHING AND WHEN I DO ONLY ENOUGH TO COVER ADDITIONAL INSURANCE OR POSTAGE. IF YOU PAY FOR MORE THAN ONE ITEM, I WILL REFUND THE DIFFERENCE.
