Description: ROGER MARIS 1958 TEAM SIGNED BALL This interesting and curious Official Little League Baseball is signed by 25 members if the 1958 Kansas City Athletics (formerly the Philadelphia Athletics and currently the Oakland Athletics) including Hall of Fame manager “Whitey” Dorrel Norman Elvert Herzog who was hanging on as a 26-year old utility infielder at the time, and a 23-year old Roger Maris who was just beginning to blossom knocking 28 home runs in his second big league season. Caramel colored ball is carries 25 signatures in all including manager Harry Craft and outfielder Bob Cerv who enjoyed a career-year in 1958 with all-time personal highs of 38 home runs, 104 RBI and a .305 average. Cerv took it upon himself to signs the ball’s sweet spot. Other signatures include; Ralph Terry, Bob Grim, Chico Carasquel, Ned Garver, Murry Dickson, Dick Tomanek, Tom Gorman, Spud Chandler, Hal Smith, Bud Daley, Mike Baxes, Don Heffner, Harry Simpson, Bob Martyn, Preston Ward, Frank House, Ray Herbert, Bob Swift, Bob Davis, Joe DeMaestri and Bill Tuttle who later toured Major League clubhouses across the country with Joe Garagiola who used his own tragic tale of devastating mouth and throat cancer to warn players about the danger of chewing tobacco.
