Description: Up for auction is a set of seven restaurant diner style 6 ¼ inch flanged chili soup cereal bowls manufactured by Syracuse China Company near Syracuse NY. The Syracuse China Company began as the Onondaga Pottery Company in Geddes NY in 1841. In 1897 the company became successful by producing vitreous ware guaranteed not to craze for use in hotels and railroad dining cars. It took to 1966 for the company to change its name to Syracuse Chine after the name had been established on this popular line of products. The company was closed in 2009. All seven bowls are in great used condition with no chips, cracks, and crazing (see pictures). The bowls have a printed back stamp with the Syracuse China Company logo along with the words “Made in USA, Product of Syracuse China, and Since 1871,” along with a 24-B and 25-A date code.
