Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson First Edition - First Printing Bantam, 1992. A cult classic science fiction novel which influenced the creation of virtual worlds such as Second Life. Trade paperback first edition rebound into a hardcover. Please read ALL that follows below before buying this book! You're not buying the original trade hardcover as issued by Bantam, which runs about $2000+ now but something close to it. Now if only an original trade hardcover first edition copy will do, do not buy this copy! This is a special example of Snow Crash in which a first edition trade paperback has been rebound into a hardcover. Dark blue vinyl material was used to create the covers and the title Snow Crash and author Neal Stephenson, and publisher Bantam Spectra are embossed on the spine in a similar design to the original hardcover trade edition. A facsimile dust jacket made of glossy paper is present replicating as closely as possible the jacket of the original hardcover edition with artwork by Jean-François Podevin, retaining the original cover price of the hardcover of $22.00. Fine binding, Fine- text-block, in Fine facsimile dust jacket with just a small nick to the back. The only shortcomings are slight natural toning to the text-block, typical, and a tiny nick to the back of the jacket, else fine. For the bargain-hunter or discerning collector! This is a unique item! NOTE on edition: Snow Crash was originally published in simultaneous hardcover and trade paperback issues in 1989 by Bantam Spectra US. Reportedly no more than 650 copies were issued in trade hardcover, the balance, probably something like 20,000 copies, were issued in trade paperback. Because of the small print-run, the trade hardcover sold out very quickly and became collectible because of the high demand versus low supply. (There are books from the 1500's such as the first complete Luther Bible of 1530 which was issued in 3000 copies!) It now appears to trade for $2000+ on the collectible book market. This is a unique opportunity to own a hardcover example of Neal Stephenson's most famous novel for about a third of the price of the hefty premium for the trade hardcover as issued by Bantam Spectra. (There was no UK hardcover edition so far as I know.) NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The picture is the actual item for sale.
