Description: Andre Norton’s adventures of the crew of the free trader starship, Solar Queen. 1 - Sargasso Of Space (Ace Books, 1978, Fifth Printing, ISBN 9780441749843, 248 pages): Every time a new planet is discovered, the highest bidder gets first dibs with exclusive property rights for a year. Anything they can find, they can keep. The planet Limbo was considered a waste of rock to most, which is the only reason the crew of the Solar Queen could afford to bid on it. But they soon discover that Limbo is far from uninhabited, the Solar Queen is far from the first ship to explore it - and they can never leave. 2 - Plague Ship (Ace Books, 1973, Third Printing, ISBN 9780441668366, 204 pages): The spaceship Solar Queen had exclusive trading rights to Sargol and its exotic gems. But the crew's bravery and resourcefulness are strained to the breaking point as they met Sargol's three challenges: the enigmatic obstinacy of the planet's catlike natives, ruthless incursions of an illegal competitor, and worst of all - an invisible, undetectable stowaway whose presence branded the Solar Queen a plague ship, off limits to the rest of the galaxy. 3 - Star Hunter & Voodoo Planet (Ace Books, 1961, First Printing, ISBN 9780441781942, 159 pages): Collection of two short novels: (1) Star Hunter: Somewhere on the jungle world of Jumala hid a man who mind had been reconditioned with another's brain pattern; and (2) Voodoo Planet: The third story in Norton's space trader Solar Queen sequence, Dane Thorson finds himself caught in the middle of a desperate battle. 4 - Postmarked The Stars (Ace Books, 1969, First Printing, ISBN 9780441675555, 189 pages): Genetic Regression aboard the Solar Queen means a trouble alert for two planets. The Solar Queen is a small spaceship that makes cargo runs among planets far from Earth. The Solar Queen has a contract to make postal deliveries between two planets. But Dane Thorson, Assistant Cargo Master, almost gets left behind when the Queen lifts off, because he has been poisoned and replaced by a look-alike who promptly turns up dead. Someone has sabotaged the Queen's cargo, and with no way to explain the dead body and the damaged cargo, the crew tries to avoid the law and solve a mystery that ultimately has them running from gigantic alien creatures and homicidal criminals. 5 - Redline The Stars (Tor Books, 1994, ISBN 9780812519860, 304 pages, Co-Author: P. M. Griffin): Business wasn't easy for small independent spaceships like the Solar Queen, but it kept Captain Jellico and his crew busy enough to keep the ship viable. No matter how perilous their voyages are, the crew has always survived, even Dane Thorson, the Cargo apprentice who seemed to bring his own luck to the ship. And now there's another new crew member: Rael Cofort, half-sister of one of the Queen's chief competitors, who just wanted passage to the new port of call, Canuche, in the Halios system. But what seems a simple run becomes a doubly dangerous mission as first a plague of rats and then an explosive crisis on the planetary star docks threaten to end the days of the Solar Queen and wipe out the population of Canuche's capital as well. 6 - Derelict For Trade (Tor Books, 1998, ISBN 9780812552720, 283 pages, Co-Author: Sherwood Smith): When the Solar Queen comes out of hyper and almost crashes into a deserted ship, they nearly find themselves dead. Luckily, the derelict has fuel enough to get both ships to the nearest port - an eerily beautiful space habitat. Three races, human, Kanddoyd, and Shver, share the facilities; but a fourth species - bureaucrats - nearly scuttles the Queen's crew and their salvage claim to the derelict. What started out as a lucky stop at the habitat turns into a series of treacherous misadventures as an alien stowaway, a gang of intergalactic spacejackers, and an ultraviolent clan of aliens threaten to make this the Solar Queen's final run.
