Description: This is an exquisite handmade tansu or Japanese cabinet measuring 20” high, 15” wide and 12” deep. It is made of a solid wood with a chocolate brown lacquer finish. The tansu is handpainted as seen on top and both sides with large deep red designs of birds in flowering trees. The front continues the floral and bird design on the doors in gold, while the smaller drawers have thick maki-e type work showing people in rural settings. This beautiful 19th century Meiji era chest is in excellent condition with only a few minor nicks here and there. This item cannot be shipped and is for pick up only in Sacramento, California.
