Because it is cool like Formula 1 racing, Royal Enfield motorcycles and if you were Steve McQueen... dating supermodels. And who does not like that?Let's elaborate on the coolness of Steve McQueen. He is an acting and racing icon and is often referred to as "The King of Cool." His catalog of cinematic works included a bevy of hits but perhaps most notably was the 1971 film "Le Mans." Le Mans usually does not crack the top 3 of Steve McQueen's cinematic career but it does provide iconic shots of his Heuer Monaco and hence the inspiration for this circa 2018 modern remake of that watch. Kindly examine my feedback, comments and inventory. Remember to "Buy the Seller" to avoid being fooled. The condition of this watch is as follows: Pre-owned in excellent condition. I would rate this cool timepiece at 96% and the majority of the straps are 99% as they are only being worn infrequently by me. The original strap (blue perforated with orange trim) is the most worn of all of the straps. My personal favorite is the white strap as it really pops and gets the most attention. There is also a bespoke strap included which is made from an artisan in Spain for me (see the last shot) and this has not yet been been worn or even seated to the timepiece. Tag Heuer needs no introduction but if you are not familiar with their timekeeping history definitely read-up on it as it is fascinating. The short version is: Originally Heuer and then Heuer was acquired by Techniques d'Avante Garde (T.A.G.) and hence Tag Heuer. The company did a great job of embracing the quartz revolution and in particular their Formula 1 line of watches in the 1980s put them on great financial footing. They have always blended sports, stars / "influencers" / brand ambassadors and innovation into their timepiece DNA. With limited edition, fine automatic watches like this Monaco reference they hold their own as a premium collectible for watch conneisseurs who recognize their value and want some Steve McQueen in their life. Because we only want timepiece customers who are delighted with their purchase, we strive to add some additional insight to help you make a great timepiece decision. With that in mind, some additional considerations about this watch include: 1. This watch is large at 39mm and works well on medium to large wrists. It brings a retro look but with modern proportions and I can recommend this watch for somebody with a wrist size of 6+1/2 inches in circumference and larger. I have an average size wrist and this watch works well on my wrist. It gets worn about 1-2 time a month, typically at night when it is cooler and on the white strap because it is my favorite for this watch.2. This is peculiar watch that makes a retro racing kind of statement. Rock this to your next Zoom call or to your tech business and you evoke that Le Mans vibe or the 1970s era of motorsport. 3. The watch is comfortable and the various straps can handle up to about an 7+7/8" wrist. 4. Highlights on this one include the incredible detail on the dial, that cool Gulf logo and of course the hip-to-be-square chronograph registers. 5. The visual interest continues on the back where one is treated to the wonderful Swiss movement through the exhibition caseback. 6. Rounding our the listing is an abundance of extra and nice collateral. Multiple straps, an extra deployant buckle (on the blue perforated, blue trim strap), two travel cases (a 3 slot and a single slot), a Gulf / checkered flag patch, cards, booklets, boxing and a large magnet (for the fridge) of Steve McQueen. We do not offer a warranty but will work with you to make any post-purchase repairs via advice on where to go and what to do (with no profit for us but paid for by you). Everything we sell is working fine for all functions when it leaves our facility (or more specifically the safe deposit box where our watches reside). In some cases, we can go back to our source and get the watch repaired for free based on our relationship and reputation.
