Description: The Seven Pillars of Wisdom by TE Lawrence. This is the general circulation edition published in 1935. 4th Impression. The autobiographical account by TE Lawrence sets out the events of the Arab revolt against the Turkish Empire during the period 2016 to 2018. The book was completed in 1919 but the manuscript including most of the 10 books making up the story (Text I) were lost by Lawrence when he was changing trains at Reading railway station. He rewrote the incredible story about his involvement in the Arab Revolt (Text II) in 1922. The subscribers edition was printed in 1926 - some 200 copies were created. Lawrence advised that no more editions of this manuscript would be published during his lifetime. The 1926 abridged text was published shortly after his untimely death in May 1935 for general circulation. The first 1935 edition was published in July 1935 by Jonathan Cape (London and Toronto) with leather spine and quarter leather corners including 4 colour pastel prints amongst the numerous illustrations (edition 750). Then the general circulation edition was published by Jonathan Cape with all illustration in black and white. This volume is the 4th impression August 1935. It is an excellent reading copy of this incredible autobiographical account by TE Lawrence of the events during the Arab Revolt against the Turkish Empire. I reserve the right to withdraw this listing if sold elsewhere.
